Meeting at the Euro-parliament on Biomedical Engineering
The agenda for the Expert Policy Workshop, hosted by Dr. Thomas Ulmer, Member of the European Parliament, is being finalized with the full collaboration of EAMBES.
Key opinion leaders of the BME field accepted the invitation to give a presentation during the Expert Policy Workshop on March 27th, 2012. Their names are:
- Prof. Marco Viceconti, current President of EAMBES, and Professor of Biomechanics at the University of Sheffield (UK),
- Prof Jean-Louis Coatrieux, Director of Inserm Research within UMR 642, University of Rennes, (France)
- Prof Michael Imhoff, representative DGBMT German Society for Biomedical Engineering within VDE e.V (Germany)
The aim of the event is to identify how the EU's future research policy could build upon experience, promote excellence and contribute to reaching the objectives of the EU 2020 strategy.
Attendance at workshop will be by invitation only and will see the participation of Members of the European Parliament and representatives of the European Commission.
Invitations can also be issued to a limited number of EAMBES representatives – and members are encouraged to request an invitation through the EAMBES Manager, Martina Contin (manager@eambes.org) as soon as possible.
We believe this is a very important event in publicizing and discussing the potential and results of Biomedical Engineering towards the societal and economic goals of the EU, and for supporting policies that will optimize its impact. This event also demonstrates, once again, EAMBES engagement and visibility at the EU policy level.
