Dear Colleague,
As you probably know I have the honor and the pleasure of organising, every 4 years in Italy, the International Summer School on Biomedical Signal Processing of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (IEEE-EMBS) which arrived to the 8th Edition in 2011. I am glad to send you more details about the Summer School and to invite some of your young collaborators or PhD students to join us at the Certosa di Pontignano (Siena, Italy, in the middle of Chianti Region...) in the period June 26th - July 3rd, 2011, for an exciting and stimulating week of learning, teaching and brain storming on advanced biomedical signal processing methods for quantification of biosignal parameters and their integration.

The topic for this edition of the School is “SIGNAL PROCESSING AND MODELLING IN NEUROENGINEERING: FROM GENE TO CELL, TO CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM" (other Summer Schools on various other topics of Biomedical Signal Processing had been previously organised in the same location starting from 1995). Prominent experts in the area of biomedical signal processing, biomedical data treatment, neurophysiology, neurology, neuroengineering, molecular biology will introduce novel techniques and algorithms as well as their clinical or physiological applications. The focus will be on tutorial presentations of the applications of advanced signal processing methods for integrating information extracted from different biological signals, recorded at different scale levels in the human beings from gene, proteins and cellular scales up to the central nervous system and the organism intended as a whole.

We invite you to diffuse this information also among people in your lab, among your colleagues and institutions (university, research centers or other organisation).
