Following five successful international conferences, The SUNY Downstate
Medical Center, the Polytechnic Institute of New York University, and The New
York Academy of Sciences are co-hosting a 3-day conference that aims to examine
the ethical issues associated with the development of new treatment modalities,
many of which pose new ethical issues and demand the design and improved
knowledge of ethical guidelines to be implemented. Biomedical engineers,
philosophers, research scientists, lawyers, students, clinicians and
representatives from industry and federal agencies will convene to explore
ethical guidelines to address the controversial nature of many of the new
exciting developments in biomedical engineering.
